The Story of Little Angels Primary School – Ntungamo (2002–2026)
Little Angels Nursery and Primary School Ntungamo is one of the most successful privately founded primary schools in Ntungamo District. Its story is a remarkable example of how a small educational dream grew into a respected institution serving hundreds of learners.
The Beginning (2002)
According to a Daily Monitor feature published on April 19, 2014, the school was founded in 2002 by Patience Kanyesigye together with Annie Bagira Tumubweine and Alfred Niwagaba. The idea was born after Kanyesigye, then a local government employee, frequently travelled to Kabale to visit her children who were studying at a boarding school there. She realized that Ntungamo needed a quality private nursery and primary school closer to home.
The school started in a rented residential house near the district headquarters with only four pupils and two teachers. Parents paid about Shs80,000 per term, slightly higher than what many schools charged at the time. The founders invested approximately Shs3 million as start-up capital and paid monthly rent of Shs100,000 while purchasing basic teaching materials.
Steady Growth (2002–2008)
The founders believed in growing slowly while maintaining quality. Every year, they added a new class. They later purchased a small plot of land and began constructing permanent classrooms in phases using savings generated from the school.
By 2006:
- Enrollment had grown from 4 to 106 pupils.
- A boarding section had been introduced.
- The school had established itself as a serious education provider in Ntungamo.
In 2007, the school received official licensing from the Ministry of Education and Sports.
In 2008:
- The first Primary Seven candidates sat for PLE.
- All eight pioneer candidates passed in First Grade, beginning a tradition of strong academic performance.
Recognition and Expansion (2008–2014)
As academic results improved, more parents enrolled their children. By 2014:
- The school had approximately 400 pupils.
- About 150 were boarders.
- It occupied nearly five acres of land.
- It employed 35 teaching and non-teaching staff.
- The investment value had reached about Shs600 million.
The Daily Monitor described Little Angels as a school that transformed from wooden structures into permanent buildings while maintaining a strong commitment to quality education and moral upbringing.
The School’s Vision
The school’s motto became “Preparing for the Future.” Its vision is “To promote good morals and quality education,” while its mission emphasizes nurturing children’s abilities through love, support, and joyful learning.

- It continued offering educational tours, debates, drama, Scripture Union, and exchange visits with sister schools.
The school has become a recognized model primary school in Western Uganda, known for strong PLE performance and a commitment to producing disciplined, confident, and morally upright learners.

Today, in 2026, Little Angels Primary School stands as a testimony to determination and vision. What began with only four pupils in a rented house has grown into a respected educational institution serving hundreds of children in Ntungamo and beyond. Through the leadership of its founders and dedicated staff, the school continues to live by its motto:
